A write up on the main objectives for The Crewe ASI

Crewe Alexandra Supporters Initiative is a Supporters Group for Crewe Alex and was formed early in 2005. We are a non-profit making group who have been formed with the following 3 intentions.

1. Unite and Galvanise Support

To create a group of vibrant, enthusiastic and motivated Crewe Alexandra fans with a positive attitude and a desire to help Crewe Alexandra Football Club overcome its current and future challenges.

Rationale:

Historically, Crewe Alexandra Football Club has had a number of active supporters groups with different aims and ambitions. Some, for example,
have concentrated on providing away-day travel facilities, others have focussed on fund raising and others have focussed on club development.
Some of these groups are still active whilst others are dormant.
However, all of their contributions have been, and continue to be, invaluable to the club.

Nevertheless, Crewe Alexandra Football Club now faces new challenges in an increasingly competitive market place with growing economic pressures.
In order to overcome these challenges, the fans must unite. A strong and popular supporters' group, if structured and supported correctly, can be an asset that provides competitive advantage.

2. Maximise Revenues

To assist Crewe Alexandra Football Club in increasing both revenue and profit by supporting the following activities:

Market research
Increasing revenue generated from existing fan base Fan base development

Rationale:

It is widely accepted that one of the main factors hampering the progress of Crewe Alexandra Football Club is its financial power. It's a cliché, but money buys success; just ask Chelsea fans!

Today, the vast majority of Crewe Alexandra Football Club's competition is located in or near major cities with large populations. As such, many competitors have larger fan bases, bigger attendances and therefore more financial power.
It is unfortunate, but still a fact, that Crewe Alexandra Football Club's future success will very much rest on its ability to increase and generate income. Therefore, it would be unwise for the supporters' group to ignore the importance of assisting the club with this task.

It is proposed that, to achieve this objective, the group concentrates three key areas:

First, conduct market research, to ensure that supporters' needs/wants are understood and visible.

Second, promote the best club initiatives to the existing fan base to help generate more income. Also, based on the said market research, work towards improving the quality of the matchday experience, and also explore opportunities to extend the range of products and services provided by the club to further increase revenues.

Finally, by attempting to increase the fan base through supporter initiatives, good PR, advertising campaigns and word of mouth there would be a natural increase in revenues.

3. Improve Communications

Create a regular two-way communication channel between supporters and club management in order to increase the sense of involvement, influence, partnership and belonging amongst fans.

Rationale:

The club has been progressive in its attempts to hold regular fans' forums (often pie & pea nights) and, more recently, focus groups made up of 10-15 fans who have been given the chance to meet face-to-face with key members of the club management.
However, for various reasons the forums have become more infrequent and the focus groups do not appear to have provided the best possible platform for supporters' ideas and concerns.

The new fans' group would like to see both forums and focus groups utilised to best effect. By providing a buffer and giving supporters the opportunity to pool and work up ideas, the new fans' group would look to channel this feedback through its representatives attending the focusgroups.
Also, the group would work towards ensuring that club's forums and AGMs were always well attended to give the club a greater opportunity to broadcast its policies, objectives and achievements.

Finally, where possible, to further improve communications the group would like to offer both the club and its supporters a single point of contact where ideas, concerns and requests could be handled. This would be a two-way process. Feedback would be provided by email, post, websites and pre-match by nominated fans' group representatives.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
